My login security code came up 6661... I hate it when that happens!
So is this some sort of sign that we really are evil apostates like the WTS says?
*Looks around and sees all the drunkards and perverts.*

what wt doctrine convinced or made you doubt your faith in the wtbts?
for me it was the 144,000 and the nature of christ's resurrection.
i seriously could not believe that there were two classes of christians when it was not stated implicitly in the bible, but was expected to be believed in as absolute truth.
And my study of history, when i look at the start of the jv and the history there is no foundation for them being "chosen" by God, they say that they got rid of "false doctrines" but they themself had doctrines that was EXTRA-biblical.And the attitude they have on other people and churches, (
Hello and welcome Rico. Anyway, you are so right. Although they don't come out and say it, they do exude this elitist attitude, like they are a cut above everyone else. You are also right in pointing out how hypocritical is their "we are the truth stance" when you mention they use lots of doctrines that have no biblical basis. Where does it mention this caste system of publishers and pioneers? Why can't brothers wear beards? Why is it okay to buy clothing from the Salvation Army, but not to volunteer for Summer Youth Camp and help little kids and/or help feed the homeless?
The stupidity and hypocrisy just keeps mounting up.

Next step: The parents should sue for violation of their religious rights. Their right to let their child die due to their interpretation of a 4000+-year old bible verse was violated.
You mean the parents should sue because a bunch of assholes in Brooklyn interpreted the Bible for them.
Reading this reaffirmed my decision to leave. I knew they had some sick and twisted policies, but willing to let a baby die all because of some silly ass law? Talk about a prime example of straining out the gnat and gulping down the camel.

It wasn't a doctrine per se, but their elitist attitudes. I am bothered by their stance that they have a monopoly on the truth, and everyone else is wrong and you shouldn't even do research. That sent a red flag.
Also, everyone else mentioned this, but the faithful and discreet slave is pushed too often. How can a group of people who are always harping about how great they are and reminding JWs why they should stay in the organization possibly be the real deal? They certainly aren't humble, because they puff themselves up all the time.
i have been feeling nervous all day.
my hubby has been out doing yardwork, so we hadn't talked too much.
finally we talked.
But somewhere in my indoctrination is the belief that even if they were to spit on us, we should attend and serve jehovah. After all we are serving him, not the brothers. That's the party line anyhow.
I think it's commendable that you put God above others, but if your so called brothers and sisters don't make you feel welcome, then this is further proof why the JWs' religion is a fraud.
Anyway, you asked about my name. Oxnard is a character on a cartoon/anime called Hamtaro. Like me, Oxnard is fat, likes to eat, timid, and shy around females. I also chose the name because I consider myself a kid at heart.

If both of you didn't want to go, then why were you both so nervous? From your post, I'm under the impression that you are both still JWs or at least still associate with them.
If that's the case, then I think it's a wise decision not to go to the memorial. That'll send them the message that you want no more of their garbage. I was actually invited by the person who used to study with me, but I dont' think I'll go. I'm too lazy.

does the fact that incense is used in religious ceremonies and in spiritism mean that all incense-burning is wrong?
not necessarily.
So if incense can be used like Glade plug ins, does that mean they are going to outlaw the use of Glade products now?

not necessarily.
Perhaps a person wishes to burn incense as a fragrance in his home simply to enjoy its pleasant aroma. (Proverbs 27:9) Even so, in deciding whether to burn incense, a Christian should consider certain factors. Would others in the area where you live associate the use of incense with a false religious practice?
If I decide to burn incense in my own home, then how are other people going to know about it? Unless you live in a transparent house or you invite people over frequently, I fail to see how anybody is going to notice.
for some....this is old news.
since so many new ones have came here, then perhaps they might enjoy something the organisation has taught they might not be aware of.. watchtower 1961 july 15 p.420 a time and place for everything .
jesus encouraged his followers to love their enemies, but god's word also says to "hate what is bad.
The thing is; the poor choice of words, as in this case, are chosen deliberately to create a chasm between present and former believers, obviously to stop those still in the org from hearing some interesting "truth" and "new Light" from those who left the org or were cast out.
After I made my post, I thought about this too. It's possible, and even likely, that the WTS used such a strong word to plant seeds in the minds of the dubs. Even though they claim they don't mean hate as in inflicting bodily harm, it's apparent from their anti-everything-except-the-WTS standpoint how they really feel about apostates.
yesterday, a pharmacy cvc, refused to fill a script for birth control pills.
the customer was btw, a married woman with 2 kids.
the pharmicist aparently did not believe in birth control, so refused to fill the script.
I gotta side with Little Witch on this one.
Why does your personal medical belief override my personal religious freedom?
When you took the job as a pharmacist. The person buying the pills is the one who wants to commit abortion. It's not like he or she is forcing you to do the same. When you take a job, you have duties to fulfill; it's that simple.
